  12. This month we continue the COMAL 0.14

  14. Tutorial, as well as report the June
  15.  
  16. COMAL PlayNotes (the summaries of the
  17.  
  18. Thursday evening COMAL meetings on the
  19.  
  20. PlayNET Telecommunications Service).

  22. As far as programs go, this month
  23.  
  24. brings 'Higher-Lower', the classic
  25.  
  26. parlor game written in COMAL Kernal,
  27.  
  28. so it is compatible with both COMALs.
  29.  
  30. Try to guess the C64's randomly-chosen
  31.  
  32. number in the range 1-1000 in 12 or
  33.  
  34. fewer guesses.  This is an excellent
  35.  
  36. example of how COMAL's structure makes
  37.  
  38. programs not only easier to write, but
  39.  
  40. also easier to READ!  LIST the program
  41.  
  42. and see for yourself.  You can get
  43.  
  44. into the program by LOADing COMAL and
  45.  
  46. then ENTERing "LK*"
  47.  
  48.   The tutorial this month covers some
  49.  
  50. of the most important COMAL system
  51.  
  52. commands, such as NEW, LOAD, SAVE, CAT
  53.  
  54. and PASS.  It shows how to use PASS to
  55.  
  56. format a new diskette, then SAVE the
  57.  
  58. COMAL temperature-conversion program
  59.  
  60. we have been working on to it, then
  61.  
  62. CATalog the disk to make sure the
  63.  
  64. program is there, then clear memory
  65.  
  66. so a NEW program can be written or an
  67.  
  68. old one LOADed.
  69.
